Raxar Lawyer
Columbus, Ohio

Raxar is an antibiotic that was approved for use by the Federal Drug Administration in November 1997. This approval came despite indications that the drug could cause serious heart rhythm disturbances. Click on FAQ on Arrhythmia to learn more about this phenomena. In fact, clinical trials under review by the FDA suggested that at least two deaths occurred as a result of heart rhythm disturbances. Yet, the FDA chose not to require a warning on the drug packaging and Glaxo, the manufacturer of Raxar also opted to keep these suspicions undisclosed. Instead, Glaxo merely indicated on Raxar labels that "there were no deaths or permanent disabilities" among those who took the drug in 400-milligram doses. That statement was true. However, patients who died in the clinical study took 600-milligram doses of Raxar. According to records filed with the FDA, Raxar has been cited as a suspect in 13 reported deaths.
